A clean slate

Like the clean slate that each new year brings, I like a clean home. I have been entertaining a lot which means I have been continuously cleaning, as well. However, as a guest, I have witnessed messiness and cannot understand why one would not be house proud. At least that's my opinion. According to my son, that homey chaos comes with the added bonus of cosiness.  He lamented that everyone else's home is cosy in that mismatched, big, plush Leon's couch, wall-to-wall carpeting sort of way. Thus, without, compromising my neutral, simple aesthetic, I made an effort to make this festive season a bit more colourful and warm.

The Polar Express train set and village popped nicely under the white Christmas tree.
I'd had my eye on a pink tree last year, and finally had found one for my daughter's room.

This year, we reverted back to the traditional real green tree in the living room, after last year's white tree proved not to be festive enough for the kids.
